Downtown Thomasville GA Shops: Vibrant Arts & Crafts Abound
Creativity is renewed in the small Southern town of Thomasville, Georgia.
On a recent trip back south, my mom and I took a day trip up to one of my favorite little towns, Thomasville, Georgia. I'm always happy to visit downtown Thomasville GA shops because I always leave being creatively inspired, and often carrying a bag or two of fabric or yarn! This little town is a mere 20 miles from my hometown of Tallahassee, Florida, and the small downtown area has been brought back to life with restaurants and gift shops. Being the crafter that I am, my favorite two stores are the FABRIC store, Trolly's, and the YARN store, Fuzzy Goat.
Trolly's is a huge two story fabric store and always our first stop. The shop has beautiful displays and setups and is complete with a cute little trolly downstairs! It's housed in the old Mitchell House Hotel, a beautiful old building built in 1880. This building was the first of the Grand Hotels built in Thomasville to accommodate the Northern tourists during the Victorian resort area. They offer beautiful fabrics for upholstery, quilting and draperies, with a host of other creative gifts and decorative accessories.
After my purchase of fabric for an upcoming post (stay tuned for the Green Market Tote bag), we took a break for an amazing lunch (shrimp & grits and iced tea) and then ventured to some creative gift stores, dress shops, and one of my favorite yarn shops, Fuzzy Goat.
Fuzzy Goat yarn shop offers a high quality selection of specialty yarns and lots of supplies and kits for yarn crafts of all kinds. In the back of the store they have sofas and tables where they offer classes or a space to just sit, socialize, and work on a project.
I can't wait to share with you a couple projects inspired by my trip to the downtown Thomasville GA shops! Do you have a favorite store or area you like to shop? I'd love to hear about the places that inspire you creatively!
